Provisional draft — pending legal review before launch.
Qita3 ("قطع") is an online marketplace that connects buyers in Qatar with independent sellers of car parts and providers of car services. The platform is operated by [Legal entity — to confirm], based in the State of Qatar, which acts as the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This means we decide what personal data is collected and how it is used, in line with Qatar Law No. 13 of 2016 on Personal Data Privacy Protection. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us using the details in section 13.
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, phone number, and a password (stored only as a secure hash, not in a readable form). When you place an order or book a service we collect your delivery address, the items or services requested, and details of your communication with the seller or provider. We also collect basic device and usage data, such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and approximate location, to help the platform work and stay secure. At launch, payment is cash on delivery, so we do not collect card details; if card payment is enabled later, card data will be handled by our payment processor and not stored by us.
We use your data to create and manage your account, process orders and service bookings, and pass the necessary details to the relevant seller or provider so they can fulfil and deliver your order. We use your contact details to send transactional messages such as order confirmations, booking updates, and account notices. We use device and usage data to keep the platform secure, prevent fraud and abuse, fix problems, and improve our features. If you use the jobs or "Talent" area, we use the information you provide there to connect you with relevant listings or applicants.
We process your personal data on the bases recognised under Qatar Law No. 13 of 2016. We rely on your consent, which you give when you register and agree to this policy, and which you may withdraw at any time. We also process data where it is necessary to perform the contract between you and Qita3 (for example, to fulfil an order), to comply with a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable marketplace. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we make sure they do not override your rights and freedoms.
Qita3 is an intermediary, so we share the details needed to fulfil your order or booking with the relevant independent seller or service provider, who then handles delivery. We also use trusted third-party processors that act on our instructions: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage hosting), Sentry (error and performance monitoring), Upstash (rate limiting and abuse prevention), and Resend (transactional email). When card payment is enabled, Tap Payments will process card transactions as a separate processor. We may also disclose data where required by law, a court, or a competent authority in Qatar, and we do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Some of our processors store or process data on servers located outside the State of Qatar. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection, consistent with Qatar Law No. 13 of 2016 and its executive regulations, including contractual safeguards with each processor. By using the platform you understand that your data may be transferred and processed in these locations. We only share the minimum data needed for each processor to perform its function.
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide our services. We retain order and transaction records for a longer period where required to meet legal, accounting, tax, or dispute-resolution obligations under Qatari law. When data is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous so it can no longer identify you. If you close your account, we remove or anonymise your data except for records we are required to keep.
Under Qatar Law No. 13 of 2016 you have the right to be informed about how your data is used, to access the data we hold about you, and to ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete. You also have the right to ask us to delete your data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent you have given. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 13; we will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the competent data protection authority in Qatar.
We use cookies and similar local storage technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the platform is used. Some of these are essential for the site to work, while others help us measure and improve performance. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may stop parts of the platform from working. We do not use cookies to sell your data or to build advertising profiles.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including hashing of passwords, access controls, and monitoring for unusual activity. Our hosting and infrastructure providers apply their own security controls to the data they process on our behalf. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to respond quickly if a problem occurs. If a data breach affects your rights, we will notify you and the competent authority as required by Qatari law.
Qita3 is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it. Where the data of a minor is involved, we handle it with the additional care required by Qatar Law No. 13 of 2016.
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of the policy and, where appropriate, notify you through the platform or by email. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continuing to use Qita3 after an update means you accept the revised policy.
If you have questions about this policy, or wish to exercise your rights, you can contact us at [contact — to confirm]. Our operating entity is [Legal entity — to confirm], based in the State of Qatar. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Qatar, including Law No. 13 of 2016 on Personal Data Privacy Protection. This is a provisional draft that will be reviewed by a Qatar-qualified lawyer before launch.
